Why Experiment

Independents doing well are the ones just trying things instead of thinking about them — moving, getting new information, adjusting as they go.

This isn’t familiar to most of us. We’re prone to want to figure it out privately, feel like we’ve got it right before we put it out.

But we need to get good at experimenting as a practice, as something we just do in our businesses. Do it in our own way, but do it.

Using what has our attention as a starting point, we can deliberately, curiously, practically get somewhere new over 40 days.

Who It’s For

A lot of us sit on things for too long. It gets lonely, circular, exhausting — and with so much changing so quickly we really can’t afford to operate this way.

I have an archive of things that never made it out. Who knows what could have happened with them.

Open File is for independents who want to see what's possible, who are tired of being stuck in their own heads, who know the information they need isn't in there, it's out here, accessible through contact. Who want a practice they can actually use to move without knowing where it's all going.

The Process

We run a 40-day experiment together.

We begin by talking about what has your attention & where your focus sits currently in your business. We’ll shape a reasonable (not too big) experiment, centring questions not expected outcomes.

We give it structure next, loosely defining what you'll do, knowing we can adjust along the way.

Then you run it.

Obviously this is harder than it sounds. "Just do it!" Ok! So we stay close throughout.

Receive insights and tools along with personal emails weekly from someone who knows how easy it is to have ideas — and how hard it is to actually experiment with them.

What Happens

Experimenting as a practice produces new information, insights, ideas, more unique work, more questions, direction, contacts, clients. Because you’re out there.

After 40 days you can drop the work or you can develop it further. Either outcome is useful. Either way it’s no longer only in your head.

And this is worth saying — you're not just running one experiment. You're developing a practice.

After 40 days you know how to do this. You can run it again. That compounds.
